Our Open Data Pledge

As an organisation working for the public good, we believe we must be designed to foster the creation of public resources. By enabling the free, open, immediate and unrestricted access to data, code, content and processes, we can assist the creation of new digital public goods to advance equity and collaboration.

[We / I] believe legal datasets, i.e. datasets and information generated by the legal ecosystem, including public authorities such as courts, tribunals, commissions, National Crime Records Bureau, Legal Aid Services Authorities, Regulators, Parliament, Ministry of Law and Justice and private entities such as, citizen sector organizations, Universities, think-tanks through surveys and cases handled, are an important community resource as law is owned and created by everyone.

[We/ I] believe that our systems of law and justice are best advanced by allowing as many users as possible to have access to as many such datasets as possible (subject only to applicable law, including privacy and data security laws), broadening collaboration, and encouraging a diversity of studies and opinions. Sharing and open access to research data not only helps to maximise the research potential thereof but provides greater returns from the public investment in research.

To this end, [we/I] pledge [on behalf of my organisation and myself], to ensure that intellectual resources, including software, project reports, manuals, research results, underlying data sets, and the like, created or co-created by [our/my] [organisation], in [organisation’s] projects, or with the use of [organisation] [funds] (whether in part or wholly) (“Resources”) are available (subject only to applicable law, including privacy and data security laws) for revision, translation, improvement, reuse (including for commercial purposes) and sharing under open licenses, open standards, and in open formats, free of technical protection measures. Towards this end, [we/I] pledge that we shall incorporate suitable language in any grant agreement, contract, or another document, requiring that any recipient of funds or other support from [organisation] are mandated to make Resources available in the manner aforesaid.

This is [my/our] pledge towards making a more inclusive,  transparent and accountable system of law and justice.

It was really fun getting to know the team during the project. They were all helpful in answering my questions and made me feel at ease. The design ended up being better than I could have envisioned!

By far the best team I've ever worked with. They truly understood the look I was going for and completely nailed it! I would highly recommend them as a company, you simply just won't find any better team!
